Part 3: Free Red Download… Or So I Thought

Well, if you remember my post before last, I said I had a free Red download. However, after the Hyper Static Union mix-up, I thought it would be wise to test Red and Day of Fire as well.
Neither worked. So, you can try your luck at getting it to work, or you can scroll down to get my consolatory bonus.

While I am sure you are disappointed, I did find something to attempt to console you: A free Krystal Meyers song from her latest album Dying for A Heart. The song is called “Collide”, and unless I am mistaken, it was the first single from Dying for A Heart.
Oh, and I am sure that the download link works this time.
Enjoy!
Free Hyper Static Union
As promised, today’s music is from Hyper Static Union. They are probably best know for their hit song “Praying for Sunny Days”. Right now, if you sign up for their mailing list here, you can receive a free download of “Overhead”, from their new album LIFEGIVER.
Or so I thought. Turns out, the song isn’t “Overhead”. It’s “Praying for Sunny Days”. (Actually, it’s “Praying for Sunny Days (Hot AC Radio Mix)”, but still…) Personally, I like “Praying for Sunny Days” better, so it really worked out well for me. If you like the song, the band, or similar artists (Nate Sallie and/or Downhere), you’ll definitely want to check this out.
Enjoy!
Day of Fire "Cut and Move" Free Download
Free music today from Day of Fire. Right now, if you sign-up for their mailing list, they’ll send you a free copy of “Cut and Move”, the first single and title track from the CD Cut and Move. It’s a great song, typical Day of Fire style. When you sign-up, you’ll also have the option of signing up for “The Family” Day of Fire street team. I’m not a member, so I can’t say what it’s like, but if you like the band, it may be something you’ll want to check out. Anyway, the music:
Brand New HearItFirst Sampler!
I just found this now, and I am downloading as I write: Hearitfirst.com has new sampler. This particular sampler features HIF’s favorite new artists of 2007. It’s pretty diverse, with almost all genres featured. It has:
Stand Amazed - 33Miles
Intermission To The Moon - A Dream Too Late
Holiday - Britt Nicole
Love Like Rain - Daniel Doss Band
Love Somebody - Mandisa
Your Own - Nate Huss
Salvation Station - Neworldson
Cross the Line - Ruth
Not Afraid - Stephanie Smith
Say This Sooner - The Almost
Hear Our Prayers - The Glorious Unseen
Blocking the Sun - The Send
As you can see, it’s not only diverse, but it has some really good music. Now you will need to create a HearItFirst account to access the sampler. I highly recommend that when you do, you check the “Sign me up for weekly newsletter” box. If you do, you’ll receive more free music every week.

Disciple and Phil Wickham Downloads
I have two songs today from Phil Wickham and Disciple. Alphabetically, “D” comes before “P”, so we’ll start with Disciple:
You know, the thing I like best about Disciple is how they are ministry centered. While most bands make music for a career, Disciple does it as an outreach. On their old CDs, each CD two disks, one full CD and one audio tract with a couple of the best songs, and the gospel message at the end. Really cool.
Anyway, they have a song called “Back Again” on Download.com. It’s from the CD Back Again. It’s a heavy song, about not going back to sin. Note: I have to warn you, this is not “After the World”. This is more along the lines of “Regime Change”, “Scars Remain”, or “The Wait is Over”. Consider yourself warned.
Now for Mr. Wickham. FreeCCM.com is featuring “Cannons” from his new album Cannons. However, there is a problem. I can’t get the download to work for me. The dread “file not found” error. I don’t know if it’s just me, or if they are missing the mp3. Anyway, you can still download the chord charts.
The Downtown Rivals - The Wedding, The Myriad, Between the Tree and more!
Alright. I am going to name six (6) different bands. You tell me what they all have in common:
The Wedding. Between the Trees. The Myriad. Deas Veil. Forever Changed. Saints Never Surrender.
Stumped?
The answer is that they are all distributed by Downtown Rivals, and all have songs featured in the Downtown Rivals Digital Music Sampler 2007. It’s actually one of my favorite samplers for the year, just because songs are just so cool. Another nice feature is that you don’t need to download the entire sampler at once. You can download as many songs at a time as you want, whenever you want. Below, I’ll break down the good tracks down:
The Way She Feels - Between the Trees
Don’t Let Them See You! - The Myriad
Rewind - Deas Veil
Starting to Sink - Forever Changed
Barricades - Saints Never Surrender
Free Ivoryline Download from AbsolutePunk
Ivoryline, the new Tooth & Nail band, just added their first single, “Be Still and Breathe”, to AbsolutePunk. You can download it for free from one of four different host. The fastests are Badongo and Zshare. With the others you will need to wait 45 seconds more or less before you can download the file.
Music from the Backwoods Legend…
Music today from the backwoods legend, J Remy. You may know him from his western music video “You Don’t Know Me”. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, I’ve embedded it below. Seriously good western-southern-hip-hop. But first, the songs. “Country Boys” and “You Don’t Know Me”, the second of which features Bonafide of Grits and Pigeon John. They are both from J Remy’s first CD The Backwoods Legend.
O.C Supertones Download, Project 86 recording a Christimas song?!?

Music today from another dearly-departed band, the O.C. Supertones. The Orange County ska group has two songs on their Purevolume profile. The songs are “Superfly”, a catchy rock song reminding fans to please report to their radios and turn it up. Then there’s “We Shall Overcome” a can-do kinda song informing Christians to take a stand for their faith.
Now for the news section:

“…But to be perfectly honest I can’t remember a more enjoyably prolific chapter as as artist. (Notice I didn’t use the word “musician.” I picture a “musician” as someone who is attempting to avoid responsibility at all costs, eeking out an existence off other people’s couches, never adopting the concept of adulthood or becoming a productive member of society.) By “prolific” I mean that we are dropping this EP (which was super fun to make) AND we are recording a CHRISTMAS SONG this Thursday. Yes, I said CHRISTMAS SONG. SCARED? You should be. Then again, if you don’t have faith by now maybe you never will. GET IT? FAITH? CHRISTMAS? HA!”
This could get interesting… Could it be a sign that the stellar Happy Christmas series will be continued this year? Only time will tell.
Sullivan Spotlight
I heard yesterday on TVU that Sullivan is calling it quits. I checked their Myspace and it confirmed it. Right before their first headlining tour Cover Your Eyes, which they were calling the “best tour ever” too. Sad news. But, every band does have to breakup someday, and they can join Audio Adrenaline on the list of bands that broke up during 2007.
So, as a memorial and a condolence to fans, I’ve chosen Sullivan as the next spotlight artist. I’ve found 4 Sullivan downloads, “Fire Away” and “Tell Me I’m Wrong”, from Cover Your Eyes, “Ten Ways to Impress” and “Down Here, We All Float” from Hey, I’m A Ghost.
